The Test Engineer II is responsible for design, coordination, and direction of engineering test projects under the guidance of a supervising manager. This involves design, set-up and running engineering tests; program coordination with other departments, vendors and test agencies; technical supervision and guidance of test technicians

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and planning of bid packages when required

  • Design test set-ups from written or verbal specifications; Select and procure equipment necessary to obtain desired results and accuracy; Build test set-ups and perform testing to maintain test schedules; Provide analysis and visual inspection of all set-ups for correct design and for safe operation

  • Design, program and trouble-shoot computer/data acquisition systems necessary for automated pump and motor/controller testing; Provide written documentation, configuration control, and validation of all programs generated; Write software for test data analysis

  • Support Production Test in design of new test equipment and troubleshooting of existing equipment

  • Review Crane Aerospace & Electronics and customer test procedures for completeness and to ensure cost control such that desired results are obtainable

  • Provide estimate of hours necessary to perform test activities

  • Provide design package consisting of written description, detailed wiring and hydraulic schematics, pictures, component lists, etc., such that set-ups can be accurately reconstructed; Assure that test data generated is neat, organized, accurate, and archived properly

  • Actively engage in 5S practices to ensure a clean, neat, organized, and efficient working environment (Test Lab and office area); Direct and participate in housekeeping practices; Assure proper storage and management of test equipment

  • Write operating procedures, testing procedures, and test reports; Adhere to company procedures (RSPs, safety procedures, dept. procedures, guidelines of conduct, etc.)

  • Define/understand/comply with company and regulatory guidelines to assure safe operating environment

  • Create and maintain test schedules

  • Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-4 years of related experience

  • Knowledge: Understands fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or program; Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field; Understanding of or hands-on experience in testing hydraulic, electronic, or pneumatic devices; Understanding of Vibration Theory, vibration fixture design and test methods;Understanding of instrumentation techniques and data acquisition for testing

  • Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; Ability to perform mechanical design/drafting utilizing SolidWorks modeling tools; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Accomplished at writing test reports to customer requirements

  • BA or BS degree required in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Experience in Aerospace industry preferred

  • Eligibility requirements include U.S. nationals or permanent residents (Green Card).
