Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Quality Engineer II to join our high-performing Quality Team in Lynnwood, WA .
As a Quality Engineer you will control and monitor quality to ensure the production of Crane’s products are consistent with established industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements. The Quality Engineer will use established procedures and work with minimum supervision to accomplished assigned tasks by working cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Suppliers and Customers. The Quality Engineer applies advanced concepts, practices and procedures of assigned products or programs, and has appreciable latitude for action or decisions. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.

Responsibilities:
Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Suppliers and Customers
Collect and analyze production data to evaluate product quality
Drive root cause analysis and recommends corrective actions
Stop production if serious product defects are present
Monitor quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
Instruct others in quality control and analytical procedures
Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, root cause analyses, or quality trends
Review statistical studies, regulatory standards and trends in the field of quality control
Identify critical points in the Value Stream and specify sampling procedures
Drive qualification of product and process changes to ensure only the highest levels of quality are accepted
Support audits with Defense, Aerospace and Customer Auditors
Provide support for failure analysis and reliability testing as required
Review and approve quality document changes - Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs), deviations
Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
Minimum Requirements:
Experience :
- 2+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in an Aerospace environment or similar manufacturing setting
Education :
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering/Life Sciences discipline
CQE/CQA preferred.
Employment Eligibility Requirement:
- This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience with ISO/AS9100D auditing and enforcement.
Experience with RTCA DO-178C (Software), RTCA DO-254 (Hardware), RTCA DO-160G, ARP4754A.
Auditing experience resulting in corrective action and review and acceptance of completed RCCA. Demonstration of proper tool applications to support root cause such as 8D problem solving, 5 Why, Six-Sigma, DMAIC, and other Operational Excellence Tools.
Ability to present findings and evidence of compliance to Certification Authorities (FAA, CAAC, EASA, ANAC) and Customers.
Good organizational and planning skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to prepare written reports and detailed audits.
Ability to focus for long periods of time on detailed tasks.
Willingness to make decisions which may be unpopular.
Good word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), and document management (Adobe Acrobat) software. Microsoft Teams a plus.
Experience with IBM DOORS, Rational Change, and Synergy a plus.
Passion for improvement, following processes, and evidence-based decisions.
Basic knowledge of embedded software for aerospace applications per DO-178C guidelines, including software planning, requirements management, code generation validation and verification a plus.
Experience with Scripting languages (e.g., PERL, VB, ASP, etc.), requirements simulation (such as Matlab with Simulink or SCADE), structural coverage analysis tool (like CodeTest, LDRA, etc.) a plus.
Contributes at a high level with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
Some test witnessing is required and therefore the use of safety equipment may be necessary including but not limited to eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE.
May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes for small periods of time.
Must be flexible to work overtime and weekends on occasion if needed.
Ability to work from home a maximum of 40% of the time.
Requires lifting 25 lbs.
Requires approximately 5% travel to support customers.

Salary range: $91,632 to $108,958. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
